We are a family run butchers business, established in 1935 by the grandfather of the current owners, George and Scott Jarron. Since then, the business has gone from strength to strength and the company has enjoyed the support of customers throughout Tayside, Perthshire and Fife. A recent online shop has now given the whole of the U.K. the opportunity to experience the quality of offering that traditionally only our local market place has enjoyed. The provenance of food is of great interest to consumers these days, and we source our meats from local farms in Brechin, Carnoustie and throughout Angus. These farmers still use traditional methods of farming so that the animals are reared to the highest level of welfare standards. Scotland is renowned for having some of the finest natural farmland to be found anywhere in the world. When we say its local, it really is local! Dundee is surrounded by beautiful and abundant farmland that can supply all that we need, therefore, our food does not collect the food miles that are associated with other retailers. Our carbon footprint is negligible. The next step is to traditionally mature the meat on the bone, and this is what sets us aside from all our competition. Our beef is matured on the bone for up to 28 days, which means that it has a flavour and tenderness second to none - just ask any of the 1000's of retail customers, or any of the chef's in the hotels and restaurants that we supply. The final step in our success is our staff. As well as interest in where our food comes from, there is growing interest in how it is prepared. We are very proud of our knowledgeable staff and actively encourage professional and personal development. Consumers are being encouraged to try lesser-known cuts of meat and the knowledge that the butchers have in this area is invaluable. They are highly skilled with their tools to bone and cut the meat to precise specifications. In fact, so skilled are our butchers, that watching them is pure entertainment! Every member of staff is expected to play their part in the business and through constant training and development, we ensure the highest levels of customer service.
